Malaria Prevention and Control

CGYS has worked on diverse malaria projects under the broad National Malaria Control Programme's Roll Back Malaria. We have used various strategies such as drama and puppet shows, the media, focus group discussions, awareness raising materials among many others to instigate behaviour change among the populace. Malaria has been a killer disease and CGYS has set up structures in local communities in collaboration with District Health Management Teams to prevent and control malaria through various means such as using insecticide treated nets, community cleaning, first aid and most importantly, prompt referral.

Nutrition

·      Assist community health nurses to provide education and counseling on nutrition for nursing mothers and children less than five years through the use of community facilitation tools with special emphasis on exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months.

·         Food preparation sessions are also carried out to demonstrate the preparation of nutritious meals using locally available foodstuff.
