Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health

The Adolescent Reproductive Health programme adopts strategies to effect behavior change and promote positive health attitudes among adolescents and other young people. Here, parents are equally targeted as a primary agent of socialization and for this reason, parent-child communication is encouraged and forcefully highlighted. Safe sex practices and personal hygiene are of particular interest and are encouraged among the youth. Especially with the threat of unwanted pregnancies, HIV and AIDS as well as other Sexually Transmitted Infections looming around society today, CGYS seek to put young people in a position where they are not predisposed to infection.

Child Survival

The Child Survival programme forms part of a broader theme of maternal and new born care which also happens to be the sixth millennium development goal. This programme targets pregnant and nursing mothers. Children who are less than five years are the primary target beneficiaries. Interventions are geared towards reducing maternal and infant mortality in project areas through reducing the risks and infection of childhood illnesses such as malaria, Pneumonia, diarrhea and malnutrition.

Child Rights Protection and Promotion

CGYS identifies children as the future and believes that the role of children in changing the world into the state we so desire is quite crucial. As part of our programmes, we are strongly against all forms of child right violations. Children are innocent and deserve to be happy all all times and this must not be compromised for anything else. The right to care and protection under the Children's Act 567 of the Ghana constitutions is the reference point and for us, no person of any calibre has any right whatsoever to flout this law. Above all, every child has the right to education.
